ARRIVAL
HANDMADE POSTERS
Denis Villeneuve's Arrival is a movie that has many layers to it.
Communication, concepts of time and mortality are a few themes that immediately come to mind.

A handmade movie poster for my one of my favorite films.
This movie reminded me of a time in my life when it was hard to communicate with others. When I was younger, most of my friendships were fleeting because I couldn't communicate what I intended to and unintentionally hurt others.
These posters reflect this time in my life; as well as the feelings of curiosity, apprehension and a wavering sense of hope while watching the movie.
EXTENDED OUTCOME
This additional poster set promotes the movie's return to theaters for a limited time. It depicts logograms that incorporate the skylines of cities that the aliens landed in and typographic posters composed of words the aliens spoke.

PROCESS
To create these posters, I used black India ink to paint the logograms that the heptapods used to convey their thoughts in the film.
